Harmoni focuses on issues of religious life that covers the following topics: (1) Religious Streams and Movements; (2) Religious services such as marriage registrar office of KUA, pilgrimage services of Hajj and Umrah, and Certification of Halal Products; (3) Interfaith Religious Relations.
Harmoni is a multicultural and multireligious journal published by the Research and Development Center for Guidance for Religious Societies and Religious Services, the Research and Development and Education and Training Agency of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (MORA). Harmoni first appeared in 2002 in printed form (ISSN (print): 1412-663X) and published four times an year. In 2013, still in print, Harmoni was published three times per year. Since the Open Journal System (OJS) began to operate in 2017, with (ISSN (online): 2502-8472), Harmoni published two times or editions per year.
Since Harmoni began operating online through the Open Journal System (OJS) in 2017, specifically in volume 16, issue 1, the journal applied the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license. However, in 2024, starting with volume 23, issue 1, Harmoni decided to update its license to Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) 4.0. This change aims to provide more flexibility for readers and researchers in utilizing the published works. The new license allows for the adaptation, modification, and creation of derivative works from the articles, as long as proper attribution is given, the work is not used for commercial purposes, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.
Harmoni is jointly published with APAI (Assosiasi Peneliti Agama Indonesia), Association of Indonesian Religious Researchers (Letter Of Cooperation With APAI).
