Harmoni is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal focusing on interfaith harmony in multicultural and multi-religious societies, both in Indonesian contexts and beyond.
The journal welcomes comparative and transnational perspectives on interfaith harmony as a dynamic interaction shaped by social practices, cultural traditions, public policy, digital media, and institutional governance. Contributions are expected to be grounded in empirical, critical, and interdisciplinary approaches, e.g., from sociology, anthropology, religious studies, political science, communication studies, law, and public policy.
Harmoni first appeared in 2002 in printed form (ISSN (print): 1412-663X) and published four times an year. In 2013, still in print, Harmoni was published three times per year. Since the Open Journal System (OJS) began to operate in 2017, with (ISSN (online): 2502-8472), Harmoni published two times or editions per year.
Since Harmoni began operating online through the Open Journal System (OJS) in 2017, specifically in volume 16, issue 1, the journal applied the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license. However, in 2024, starting with volume 23, issue 1, Harmoni decided to update its license to Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) 4.0. This change aims to provide more flexibility for readers and researchers in utilizing the published works. The new license allows for the adaptation, modification, and creation of derivative works from the articles, as long as proper attribution is given, the work is not used for commercial purposes, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.
Harmoni is jointly published with APAI (Assosiasi Peneliti Agama Indonesia), Association of Indonesian Religious Researchers (Letter Of Cooperation With APAI).
